From the lack of chest hair in the illustration, I can only assume the bears collide later in the piece.

I am deeply saddened by the lack of body hair on this supposed bear :/

Well, you see, he's a bear SHIFTER. He's not a bear all the time, he sometimes turns into a bear.

Well, yeah. But "bear" has a meaning when it comes to dudes, too...

...point.

Every once in a while, he ducks into the woods and comes out wearing Rob Halford leather and proudly b(e)aring a lush crop of chest hair? ;D

Wait a second. "Return to Bear Bluff." Is this a series?

(Also, two points penalty for incongruent use of "bear".)

Yes, this is the fifth book of the Return To Bear Bluff series, which are paranormal romance novels featuring "BBW" protagonists who are "bear shifters" - people who can turn into bears, like werewolves except for bears and not tied to the moon.

It's Buffy The Vampire Shagger, except with magic bears.

Notably, the series is called "Return To Bear Bluff" because even though this series is at 5 books, there was a previous series of similar books featuring the town of Bear Bluff.

My morbid curiousity takes me down some very strange internet rabbit bear holes sometimes.

I commend the flowering of creativity that self-publishing has brought to the world. (I can't really knock this very hard tbh, because right now I'm reading a vampire-steampunk erotica series and enjoying it so.)

There's actually a pretty good shifter-kinky-erotica 3-book series, by Cherise Sinclair, which I found to be enjoyable pervy-popcorn reading.

One thing I do like about her books, in general, is that her female protagonists have a full range of body types.

(I'm not a big romance/erotica reader overall, but I do like certain authors -- and I admit to having a lifetime kink for werewolves/shifters. Ahem.)

I have a cousin who writes YA / paranormal romance / erotica, too. I'm in no place to cast nasturtiums on bears, bluff or otherwise.

And gosh, I never would have guessed that kink ;-)

Self-publishing and the internet has allowed people to write for very specific audiences, and then find them and sell the book to them.

Clearly there's a living to be made writing BBW bear shifter erotica for someone, so if you wanna, why not?

The blurb is painful to read, and 90% of everything is crap, but as long as the folks buying it know what they're getting into, cool. I still get to make fun of how very specific it is and oh god my commas - fair trade.

From the sounds of it, you're not the only thing going into bear holes.

Oddly, it's the overuse of commas in this blurb that bothers me most.

Written by the book's author. I did not download the book to see if the writing style is the same in the actual content.
