I would not count physically weak battered spouses to be prey animals, so I have trouble considering babies prey animals on that criteria.

They are also often hunted, even if from a predator species, if you don't require this to be humans that we're talking about.

What scares me is that it comes naturally.
It occasionally takes a minute or two for implications to trickle in, but it doesn't often require conscious effort anymore, just reasonable attention.
