New proposed abortion law: No abortion without written permission of the father.

If you don't know who the father is, you have to submit a list, and get them all checked until you find the right one, and then get his written permission.

Rape or incest? You need written proof of such from the police, instead of the father.

Do you generally go out of your way to assume everyone's a horrible person or did I just catch you on a good day?

Our reasons for not having a child had nothing to do with wether or not she wanted my child and I'm not clear where exactly I employed the NG routine you speak of.

More specifically, I was refering to your description of a fetus as a mash of blood and thus not worth caring about. It could have been our child and neither of us has a day go by that we don't regret the choice we feel we had to make. We mourn as if we had lost the child after that happy little line in the sand that you've declared exists immdiately following passage out of the vagina.

The former fetus was a mash of blood. I know, I've handed the tools to the people sucking them out (and I would have gotten to do it myself, if the gynecologist in question hadn't been very early in her training). *schluuurp*

I really can't fucking stand this sentimentality about fetuses, and the Nice Guy routine was right in your first comment. I've seen men everywhere complain they didn't get to make a slave of the woman they had sex with, just because of their precious genes. Sorry if I rushed to judge you, but when you use classic misogynistic arguments, don't be surprised when we women react badly.

When did I say I wanted to make her a slave? I just feel like things have gotten a little one-sded and while this law goes WAY too far I do feel that people are starting to forget that there is a dad involved.

Secondly, it's a bloody mash because you just sucked it out with a friggin vacuum.

It may not be a person at the time of abortion but one can't help but think about what it might have become.

I'm pro-choice and always have been, when we found out she was pregnant I automatically researched all our options, handed them to her and then stepped back and let her decide.

That doesn't mean I don't miss the child I wasn't able to have.

Forced labour is slavery. And it's a bloody mess because she wasn't willing to spend nine months supporting the little parasite.

And yes, there's a dad involved. And when he gets pregnant, he can choose whether to keep the pregnancy.

And really, could you be more patronising? Researching the options for her?

She was too busy freaking out about what to do and thus wasn't actually dealing with the situation. Looking up her options was the only way in which I could contribute and thus help her through everything. It's not patronizing, it's being a good boyfriend.

I broke it down into three catagories:
1.Keep it, raise it.
2.Keep it, give it up for adoption.
3.Abortion.

There's an issue of time with all three because if we were going ot keep it, she needed to get started on pre-natal care, etc. And if she decided to get an abortion it was better for us to do it before she crossed from the period of time where it's a pill vs the period of time where it's a vacuum.

Forced labour? How is saying, "I want us to have a baby, what do you think?" forced labour? It's like you're going out of your way to swing for the fences here.

As I said, I'm pro-abortion. It's not like there is a shortage of humans on this planet, so unless someone is damned sure she wants to raise a child, I think abortion is the right choice.

But I'm bowing out of the conversation. Feel free to have the last word.

My mom wasn't damned sure she should have a second child(me)out of wedlock but I'm pretty fucking happy about it.

I love you in all the ways it's legally allowed to love a Scandahoovian woman I've never met who isn't my wife and who's married to a Scandahoovian man who isn't me.

(Ugh. Between this and my manager and co-worker, I think I could fill a bingo card.)
