Oct. 17th, 2007 10:17 amThe Galileo Fallacy:
The thinking goes like this:
"Great thinkers throughout history have had unpopular ideas that everyone disagreed with.
"I have an unpopular idea that everyone disagrees with.
"Therefore, I must be a great thinker."

Oct. 17th, 2007 01:14 pmThere's a fake Canadian sending a fake letter about how bad Canada has it in terms of health care, aimed at scaring Americans away from a useful health-care policy.
Unsurprisingly, it's full of lies. Lies that rely on you simply not checking *any* of it. Lies worthy of a Creationist, even.

"After nearly 15 minutes of soul-searching, I have heard the call….I am hereby declaring that I will enter the presidential primary in my native South Carolina, running as a favorite son," Colbert said on his show Tuesday night. "I defy any other candidate to pander more to the people of South Carolina — those beautiful, beautiful people."
Not only does he deserve to win, but all the other candidates deserve to have him win. You know it's true.

Of course, this isn't what ACTUALLY would happen. What actually would happen is that Bruce Wayne would trip over his cape, fall down, and wet himself. Not because that's Superman, no, no, not at all, but because he's Batman, and with Batman you're either Adam West or Frank Miller, and both suck.
But I digress.

Oct. 17th, 2007 09:10 pmIt needs to be a quote from one of the first-year strips of Two Lumps.
Click it, and vote for "I Would Lick It For Hours."
It is the most perfect title.
Go.
Do it now.
That price, of course, being 1997 dollars.
In 1992 it would likely be worth fifty thousand.
In 1987 it would likely be worth millions.
In 1977 it would be worthless commercially - there would be, quite simply, no-one and nothing capable of working with it. It might get confiscated by the government for trials, as an example of amazing technology that simply doesn't have any context to work in. It might be the equivalent of Cyberdyne's arm and half a brain chip.
And in 2007, it was discarded.
And I brought it home because it looks cool.
