A Spanish judge wants to question the soldiers who fired on the Palestine Hotel.

The US State department, in a rare display of tact and sensitivity to the concerns of other countries, says "It would be a very, very cold day in hell before that would ever happen."

"I just cannot imagine how any U.S. soldier can be subject to some kind of foreign proceeding for criminal liability when he is in a tank in a war zone as part of an international coalition," - yeah, it's not like they deliberately fired a tank shell into a building in a secure zone that the Army *knew* was full of noncombatant foreign journalists, or anything like that.

Sometimes a sheriff's gotta do what a sheriff's gotta do -- even if it means arresting his own son on drug charges.

Again.

Robert Hopper, the sheriff in Fulton County in far Western Kentucky, arrested Robert Hopper Jr. Friday after allegedly finding him making methamphetamine. The younger Hopper, 31, was one of four charged with conspiracy to manufacture meth after Sheriff Hopper said he found an active meth lab on a farm.

It was Robert Jr.'s second arrest by his father on meth-related charges in a month. "I said before that he's my son and I love him, but I'll treat him like anybody else," the sheriff said. "The law is the law, and it applies to everyone."

I wish they'd actually suck out the air and seal them properly.

EDIT: PETA members handcuff themselves to all kinds of objects. They dress up in animal costumes and strip naked in public and for pictures, often with attached animal bits or animal body paint. Now they're wrapping themselves in plastic, nude, in public.

Is is just me, or are there *really* very few differences between PETA and exhibitionist furries with a bondage fetish?

Greatest. Personal Ad. EVER.

This guy is looking for a long-distance cycling partner online. Things go downhill from there. Post #20 is his last one - he's never been back to the site since. Post #23 is really funny, but they taper off after that.

More details about the poster.

Woman sues Stephen King, claiming that she's the inspiration for Annie Wilkes, from Misery

Hiltner makes a similar claim about another Stephen King character from the TV mini-series "Stephen King's Kingdom Hospital," which aired last year on ABC. In the lawsuit, Hiltner claims a key character, "psychic Sally Druse," was also based on her. Hiltner claims that character "defames" her and exploits "private events" in her real life -- but the rambling lawsuit gives no details of those events.

Anne Hiltner is no stranger to Stephen King. She has sued him before. King's lawyer says she once claimed King's book "Riding the Bullet" was plagiarized from her brother's manuscript. She lost that lawsuit. Even before that, in the early 1990's, she reportedly claimed in another lawsuit that "Misery" was plagiarized from her writings. That lawsuit was dismissed.

Tulsa Parks Board passes rule that requires Tulsa Zoo to put up a display on creationism, out of "fairness"

At least it's going to be privately funded, and the guy who is funding it didn't get what he wanted - the zoo determines the content, and they will cover many creation myths, not just his.

The definition of smallminded vindictiveness:
When Mark Bennett, the attorney chairing the state grievance committee originally recommending Phelps be disbarred died, the aggrieved Fred came to the wake and signed the guestbook. Beside his name, Phelps wrote the numbers of a chapter and verse from the Bible.

When the shattered widow looked it up, it said 'vengeance is mine'.
Taken from "Addicted To Hate" - a history of Fred Phelps and his loony, twisted family.

Says Kansas Senator Kay O'Connor: Women should not have the right to vote. It's unfair to require that of them, since having to make decisions means that mean aren't properly taking care of them.

She also says that she consideres her own views to be more important that those of her constituents, and that she allows her *un*-elected husband to make all final decisions.
